1.4 ASSIGNING A PLAYLIST TO A
SOFTWARE PLAYER
1.4.1 I
NTRODUCTION
From IPDirector V5.8, you can load, browse and play an off-line or on-line playlist
on the Software Player.
Using the Software Player, you will be able to play all playlist elements as long as
they are available on an EVS server or on an online nearline via the GigE network.
However, you will have to make the playlist on-line and manually restore the files
to an EVS server if you want to play it out on a player channel.

When the Playlist Panel is open, you can associate the Software Player by right-
clicking the Channel Name field and selecting Software Player from the
contextual menu.
As you can only open one instance of the Software Player at a time in IPDirector,
the situations described below can occur:
•
If neither the video display window nor the Software Player are open in
IPDirector, the Software Player opens in the Playlist panel.
•
If the video display is already open as an independent window, no video display
opens in the Player Panel, but you can monitor the commands you perform on
the video display window.
•
If an instance of the Software Player is already open in the Control Panel, the
current instance of the Software Player stays open in the Control Panel.
•
If an instance of the Software Player is already open in a Playlist Panel, an
error message prevents you from opening the Software Player.
