switchport broadcast

Use this command to configure broadcast storm control. Use the
no form to disable broadcast storm control.

Syntax

switchport broadcast packet-rate rate
no switchport broadcast

rate - Threshold level as a rate; i.e., packets per second.
(Range: 16, 64, 128, 256)

Default Setting

Enabled for all ports
Packet-rate limit: 256 packets per second

Command Mode

Interface Configuration (Ethernet)

Command Usage

• When broadcast traffic exceeds the specified threshold, packets

above that threshold are dropped.

• This command can enable or disable broadcast storm control

for the selected interface. However, the specified threshold
value applies to all ports on the switch.

• Enabling jumbo frames for the switch will limit the maximum

threshold for broadcast storm control to 64 packets per second.

Example

The following shows how to configure broadcast storm control at
64 packets per second on port 5:

Console(config)#interface ethernet 1/5
Console(config-if)#switchport broadcast packet-rate 64
Console(config-if)#
