5.2.4. Editing an Arpeggio
While an arpeggio is playing, you can edit Gate length, Velocity, Time Shift and Randomness
with those main encoders.
When you play an arpeggio, the KeyStep Pro will generate notes using the current setting
of the Gate encoder. Once an arpeggio is running, you can adjust the global gate value of
these notes. Turning the encoder to the right will lengthen the initial gate time, turning the
encoder to the left will shorten the gate time.
Editing the velocity of the notes in arpeggio works in a similar way: turning the Velocity
encoder to the right will increase the Velocity of all the notes in the Arpeggio. Turning the
Velocity encoder to the left will decrease the Velocity of all the notes in the Arpeggio. The
value that is added or subtracted is shown in the display.

♪ : In other words, velocity is bipolar. When the velocity encoder is at '0', all the notes in the arpeggio
will play with the velocity registered when you pressed the key. Turning the encoder to the right will add
to this velocity until a maximum of 127 is reached. Turning the encoder to the left will subtract from the
registered velocity value. Until, at the -127 point, the note goes silent.
Editing Time Shift only makes sense when you have two or more arpeggios running
simultaneously. It then makes a lot of sense: instant Steve Reich/Terry Riley! Randomness
will add an additional element of surprise by applying random pitch changes to your
arpeggio. Used sparingly when multiple arpeggios are running, it will add even more depth.
Note that the edits you make will affect the currently active arpeggio only.
Press 'Shift'+ Hold/Clear to clear the arpeggio.


need to hold one or more external MIDI notes, send the KeyStep Pro a Sustain message using a sustain
pedal.
