4.3.4. MIDI Section
Three full-sized 5-pin DIN connectors let you send and receive MIDI data to/from external
MIDI-compatible devices. The KeyStep Pro includes one MIDI input and two independent
MIDI outputs to provide maximum flexibility when working with external hardware.
Maybe you would rather have a MIDI thru port instead of a second MIDI port? To change
the function of the second port, hold 'Shift" and Project/Utility and select the MIDI setting
menu, where you can change the MIDI out setting from Out to Thru.
Set to 'Thru' the following MIDI messages will pass thru:
• note on/off
• velocity
• aftertouch
• modwheel
• pitchwheel
• MIDI cc
• program change messages
♪
: MIDI Thru does not provide complex routing MIDI functions: it's a simple Thru allowing MIDI data
arriving via the MIDI in port or the USB port to pass unaltered. It is however useful when your KeyStep
Pro is part of a daisy chain setup.
The KeyStep Pro can send not only MIDI note-related data but also MIDI synchronization
signals, so that your external tempo-dependent devices (such as sequencers, arpeggiators,
etc.) remain in sync.
♪
: When working with a host computer, these connectors can also be used to send MIDI data from
your music software to your connected hardware.
