TEST 34:- EXCITATION WINDINGS
Remove the
assembly.
alternator front panel
Disconnect the white connector plug
from its receptacle on the stator
can. On the receptacle, locate Pin
No. 2 and 6 to which Wires No. 2
and 6 attach. Set VOM to ”+DC’' and
to "Rxl” scale, then zero the meter.
Connect one meter test probe to re
ceptacle Pin No, 2, Connect the re
maining test probe to receptacle Pin
No. 6. Meter needle should swing up
scale and read approximately 1,1
Ohms, This is the resistance of the
excitation winding,
RESULT;- Meter needle does not move.................... Replace stator
Windings check good.............. ,,,Continue diagnostic tests
TEST 35:- CARBON DEPOSITS
Excessive carbon buildup in the engine combustion section can serious
ly affect engine power. Carbon deposits should be removed every 500
operating hours, whenever the cylinder head is removed, or when prob
lems are encountered. Refer to the engine section of Manual for cylin
der head removal and installation procedures. Cylinder head bolts must
be properly located and properly torqued.
RESULT:- Power output is normal.................... Discontinue tests
Problem is still encountered,......Continue diagnostic tests
