Adding a data source to an object
Creating a ticker
Use a ticker when you want to scroll through a data set, displaying one or more items at
preset intervals. The item or items will be replaced with new content from a selected source.
To create a ticker:
1.
Open Xpanel’s Asset Browser (Ctrl+A) and select the D ATA tab.
2. Right-click on the schema that you want to add the snapshot to and select the N EW
T ICKER command.
The D ATA T ICKER S ETTINGS window appears.
3. In the T ICKER N AME field enter a name for your ticker.
4. Specify the T ICKER S ETTINGS :
a. In the I NTERVAL ( SEC ) field, select the number of seconds you would like to elapse
before displaying the next data item.
b. In the I TEMS field, select the number of data rows that are available for display.
c. In the I NCREMENT field, select the number of rows you would like to increment. The
number of items must always be equal to or less than the increment number to
avoid data items being skipped.
d. In the B URST field, select the number of data items you would like initially sent from
the D ATA S ERVER to the output device. If no burst is required, leave the count at 0.
N OTE
The B URST setting is used with crawling or rolling tickers, and ensures that the first data item
will not repeat itself if subsequent data items are not sent to the device in time. If using the
B
URST setting, it must be reset every time you go to P RODUCTION mode using two T ICKER
C OMMAND actions (R ESET and S TART ) associated with the panel’s O N L OAD event.
e. Select the R EFRESH ONLY AT END check box to refresh ticker data only after it has
gone through the entire table.
f. Select the S TART B Y D EFAULT check box to have the ticker start running as soon
as its host control panel or page is activated. This is the only way to start it without
setting up an action.
g. Select the W RAP AROUND check box to have the ticker wrap. This feature is useful
if your ticker is showing, say, three data items at a time and you want to ensure
that if you reach the end of your table and there are only two items left, that you
don’t end up with a blank item. In this case, if W
RAP AROUND were selected the first
item from the table would go to air as the last item.
h. Select the L OOP check box to have the ticker start at the beginning of the table and
play again after it has reached the end.
i. Enable the I NDIVIDUALISED property when you want to allow each client to control
the state of the ticker independently.
