Verifying device connections in Xplay

Before beginning playout, make sure that Xplay is connected to the playout device(s). A
device’s connection status is indicated in Xplay by the LED next to the device’s name in the
display panes (figure

11-5

).

If Xplay is in Manual mode and the rundown that you will be playing out contains clip assets
that were inserted directly into the story, you must also verify that the clip template and clip
object have been specified on the device’s configuration. See

page 4-7

for instructions on

verify and/or adding the clip template data to the device configuration.

To connect Xplay to one or more devices:
If the LED next to the device name is red, double-click it. The LED turns green if a connection
to the device is established. If the LED remains red, it means one of the following:

The information describing the device has been entered incorrectly.

The desired device is down.

The network connection has been lost.

If no names or LEDs appear within the display pane, it means none have been defined
and/or assigned. If this is the case, refer to the instructions in the Xplay User Manual on
how to set up your devices. If desired, you can disconnect from all devices and run your
playlist in Xplay to ensure that all page information is correct.

To disconnect Xplay from one or more devices:

From the Tools menu select D

Select the active device for the required view and then click the left-pointing arrow.
Xplay is now disconnected from the output device.

OTE

If you want to temporarily disconnect a device from Xplay, without removing the device from
the display pane; simply right-click on the device’s LED and select the D

ISCONNECT

command

(the green LED turns red). Double-click the device’s LED to reconnect.

Green = Connected
Red = Disconnected
