Playing out rundowns using Xplay
1.
Main menus: Provides access to commands that execute most of Xplay’s functionality.
• File menu - Contains commands for opening and editing playlists (rundowns), as
well as to close the Xplay application.
• View menu - Contains commands for opening logs, as well as for exposing Xplay’s
Asset Browser, Quick Recall field, and Search tool.
• Actions menu - Contains commands for controlling the playlist and the playout of
the playlist items, including R

commands.
• Tools menu - Contains commands for configuring Xplay’s settings, as well as
configuration settings for the interaction of Xplay with playout devices and other
services.
• Help menu - Contains a command for identifying the Vertigo Suite’s version and
build number, as well as a command for installing Xplay’s required license.

Asset Browser: The Asset Browser, which is located within a collapsible panel,
provides a tree view of assets stored on the Xmedia Server. You can use the Asset
Browser to locate and load a rundown into Xplay.

Status bar: Displays the MOS Protocol logo indicating that the currently loaded playlist
is a rundown that is written by a MOS application. The implication is that the newsroom
system may save this rundown at anytime and eliminate any changes that you may
have made. Note that the Xplay Save buttons are disabled when a rundown is loaded.
The MOS logo is followed by the rundown’s name. Also displayed is the name/IP
address and connection status of the Xmedia Server that Xplay is configured to
connect to.

Playlist window: The workspace where an opened rundown is displayed as a playlist.
Playlist items (story headings, pages, clips, comments...etc.) are organized in a
sequential list that determines their playout order. See
“Playing out a rundown in Xplay”
for more information.
• The buttons along the top of the window are used for loading and managing
playlists in this window. These buttons allow you to open a new playlist, as
well as save, reload, looping... the playlist and its items.

command, allows you to enter a page or template’s Recall ID to
perform various shortcuts.
