Acquiring images from the AP Graphics Bank
Searching the AP Graphics Bank for images
Xnews provides integrated access to the AP Graphics Bank allowing you to search for
suitable images and incorporate these images into Pages that can be previewed and/or
played out to air.
To search for images in the AP Graphics Bank:
1.
Click the S
EARCH
AP G
RAPHICS
B
ANK
button in the Xnews toolbar.

window appears.
2.
Enter a search query by typing a keyword or boolean string in the text box.
3.
Click the search
button or press Enter to launch the search.
The results of the search are displayed as tiles in the main pane.
Each tile consists of:
• A thumbnail of the image
• The image title
• The event date
• The dimensions of the full resolution image
• The
icon if the image has an associated Editorial Note. The Editorial Note
text can be viewed by hovering the mouse over the icon.

Optional: If your search query returns a large amount of results, you may use the S
ORT
setting’s drop-down list to reorder the results. Choose from:

Optional: To view details for a particular image, right-click on the image’s tile and select

A larger version of the image appears in a pop-up window along with the following
information:
• AP identification number for the image
• Title
• Description
• Event Date
• Dimensions
• Editorial Note (in red text)
• Generic Notes

Once you have found an image that you want to use, a preview version of the image
can be dragged into a Page open in Xnews. See
“Adding AP Graphics Bank preview
for instructions.
