Updating and reloading a rundown in Xplay

If a rundown has been open in Xplay for a while, you may need to reload it to ensure that
it’s still up-to-date. For example, additional items may have been appended to the rundown
by a user at another workstation while the rundown was also open at your workstation.

Although you can edit other types of playlists using Xplay, rundowns can only be edited in
Xnews and the newsroom computer system. In a newsroom environment, Xplay is only
used for controlling and playing out the rundown.

How you reload and whether it’s necessary at all depends on how Xplay has been
configured. There are three possible scenarios:

The P

UPDATE

INTERVAL

setting has not been activated. In this case, Xplay will

not be checking for updates. For changes made at remote workstations to take effect,
the rundown must be manually reloaded. See

“Manually reloading a rundown in Xplay”

on page 11-6

.

INTERVAL

setting has been activated, but not the A

setting (see

“Configuring Xplay’s update and reload settings” on page 11-6

).

This means that Xplay will periodically check the Xmedia Server for updated versions
of the rundown, but it will not automatically reload the new version for you. Instead, the

will turn orange to indicate that a new version has been

detected. Click the button to reload.

activated (see

will check the Xmedia Server for an updated version of the current rundown and it will
automatically reload it when it finds a newer version.

The pages currently on air remain on air even if they have been moved to new locations in
the rundown, or have been removed altogether.
