and the following descriptions provide an overview of the features and

components of the standalone Mark In/Out Editor that is used by Xnews in ENPS systems
to set a clip’s trim values, as well as preview the playout of the clip.

Figure 8-6. Use the Mark In/Out Editor to preview the clip and set the clip’s Trim In and Trim Out values

1.

Clip name: The name of the video clip asset that has been opened appears at the top
of the Mark In/Out Editor window.

2.

Preview pane: It is often useful to preview the changes that you make before you
commit to them. Therefore, using the Current Position slider you can preview the
playout of a particular instance of the clip in the Preview pane. As well, you can use the
transport controls to play back the clip including any edits that you have made using
the Mark In/Out Editor.

3.

Current position: The current time code position of the video that is being played out
in the preview panel is indicated beside this heading. A thin yellow line also reports the
current location along the video and audio tracks. Dragging the yellow line along the
tracks allows you to preview and stop on specific frames within the clip. You can also
use your keyboard’s left and right direction keys to move the yellow current position line
with finer precision.
