12 APPENDIX A – Waveform Memory Setup
12.1 Introduction
This is a description of how to set up the SMT381-VP waveform memory. This demo
system uses an SMT310Q carrier, an SMT365-8-2 DSP module in TIM 1 and an
SMT381-VP (SMT338-VP base with SMT381 daughter card) in TIM 2. The zip file
containing the code and FPGA bit-stream can be downloaded from here:
ftp://ftp2.sundance.com/Pub/Temp/SMT381_WaveformMemory.zip
10.2 System Setup
Connect ComPort 0 of the DSP module in TIM 1 to ComPort 3 of the SMT391-VP in
TIM2.
10.2 Software Setup
Unzip the SMT381_WaveformMemory.zip file into the SMT6500 directory. This will
create a Source and a Bitstreams directory. The Bitstreams directory contains the
programming file for the FPGA of the SMT338-VP and the Source directory contains
a file called SMT338VP_SMT3x1.app. This is the DSP application for programming
the FPGA and for setting up the memory. Next run the .app file. The following screen
will appear:

Select:
Figure 70. Test Program Main Menu.
Select option ‘2’ and wait for the FPGA to configure. After configuration select option
‘5’ to enter the SMT338-VP + SMT391 / SMT381 sub-menu. (Please note that some
of the other functions will not work as they are relevant to different test setups, or
work with different programming files).
