7-2 Introduction to the ACAO Board
11-12-01
DataShuttle and DynaRes
Features and Configurations
Analog Output Channels
The ACAO-12-2 has two output channels, while the ACAO-
12-8 allows for up to eight analog outputs.
Resolution
The ACAO is capable of attaining 12 bit resolution (that is,
.024% of signal).
Data Acquisition Speed
The ACAO is capable of attaining a data acquisition speed of
130 kHz, depending on the software being used. The
maximum data acquisition rate supported by our software for
the ACAO is 1 kHz.
Accuracy
The ACAO is factory-calibrated and very accurate. (If it is
ever necessary, the user can recalibrate the board with
precision using software utilities we provide with every
product.)
Digital I/O
The ACAO features 8 digital input/output channels that the
user can configure individually to be input or output.
Terminal Panel
An available accessory for the ACAO is the T31 general-
purpose terminal panel, which includes terminals for eight
analog outputs and eight digital I/Os.
For More Information
For more information about the capabilities of your data acquisition board, please see the “Product
Specifications” in this chapter.
For instructions on controlling the board with our interface software (such as DASYLab or QuickLog PC),
refer to that particular software manual.
To learn more about data acquisition, process control in general, and how to use these systems together to
accomplish everyday tasks, consult the Applications chapter.
If you’re creating your own program to address the board for a custom purpose, please see the Analog
Connection Development System manual.
System Requirements
Before installing the board, make sure the computer system fulfills these minimum requirements:
Hardware
• IBM PC AT (or higher) or -compatible, with at least 640k system RAM.
• Floppy disk drive, CD-ROM drive and a hard drive.
Software Environment
• Windows 3.1/95/98/NT.
• Application software (DASYLab, QuickLog PC, the Analog Connection Windows Development
System, or other compatible proprietary software; please see your software manual for directions for
using it with the DataShuttle). QuickLog for Windows 3.1, 95/98 only.
