Current
Figure 13-6 shows the connections for current measurement. R3 is used as a shunt resistor. Since these
analog input boards are configured to measure voltage, use the following equation to measure current:
Current = Voltage
÷ R3
Do not run currents higher than 1 Amp into the terminal panel or you risk melting the circuit board traces.
Observe the power rating of the resistor you install at R3. Space is provided for a ¼ Watt resistor. To
measure 1 Amp it can be no larger than 0.25 ohm.
