3. Create a transaction and bind the FactoryTalk Transaction
Manager data point to a date/time field in the database (the
actual data type may be called TIMESTAMP or DATE or
DATETIME, depending on the database used).
If you are using a configuration that uses online edits, you can only
distribute certain parts of the application across multiple computers.
In a configuration that uses online edits via a COM+ enterprise
connector, there are three main parts:
• Transaction Control Manager (TCM).
• The COM+ enterprise connector.
• The .DLL file written by the user.
If you wish to put the TCM and the COM+ enterprise connector
on separate computers, then the user-written .DLL must be located
on the same computer as the COM+ enterprise connector. If you
have the TCM and the COM+ enterprise connector on the same
computer, then the user-written .DLL can be located on a different
computer. You cannot, however, locate the TCM, COM+
enterprise connector and the user-written .DLL on different
computers.
The COM+ network access is disabled by default on Windows 2003
Standard Server computers. For details on how to enable it, see
Special considerations for a
distributed Microsoft COM+
application
