If you are upgrading from a prior version of the FactoryTalk Metrics
or FactoryTalk Historian Classic software, there are several things
that you should take into consideration before you proceed with the
upgrade:
• It is recommended that you create a backup copy of your
RSBizWare database, FactoryTalk Transaction Manager
configurations, and sesame.dat file - located in the directory
into which the software was installed - before beginning the
upgrade process.
• The RSBizWare software will automatically upgrade your
RSBizWare database as part of the configuration process.
However, you may want also to consider upgrading your SQL
server to the newest version supported by RSBizWare.

For details on upgrading SQL Server, refer to the Microsoft
SQL Server documentation.
Before upgrading your automation system software from an earlier
version of FactoryTalk Services Platform, take note of the following
key points:
• You must remove all Rockwell Automation products that
depend on FactoryTalk before removing and reinstalling the
FactoryTalk Services Platform on the same computer.
• The FactoryTalk Services Platform, and all of the
FactoryTalk-enabled software products participating in the
same automation system, must be part of the same
Coordinated Product Release (CPR). To upgrade to a new
version of FactoryTalk Services Platform, all participating
