Troubleshooting consistency group pair-split failures
If a consistency group (CG) pair-split fails, note the following:
•
The pairs in the CG are suspended (“Suspend/SUSPER” status).
•
If you are using a Cnt Ac-J Z S-VOL as an BC Z P-VOL and you are using RAID Manager to
run commands and the status for some pairs that are assigned to a CG are not changed,
some pairs remain unsplit in the CG and pair consistency is not guaranteed after you run the
following command:
pairsplit
The following are possible reasons why the status for some pairs that are assigned to a CG
are not changed:
◦ The Cnt Ac-J Z pair is assigned to a CG and the P-VOL and S-VOL have the same contents.
The journal volumes for this pair are full.
◦ The BC Z license is invalid.
◦ The BC Z pair volumes are blocked.
◦ The BC Z pair is in a status that does not allow you to run the pairsplit RAID Manager
command.
For more information about pair status, see “Monitoring BC Z pair activity and status”
(page 65) .
◦ You are using a BC Z pair volume in a Cnt Ac-S Z or Cnt Ac-J Z pair and the Cnt Ac-S Z
or Cnt Ac-J Z pair is in a status that does not allow you to run the pairsplit RAID
Manager command.
