Restrictions for consistency group pair-split
Consistency group (CG) pair-split has the following restrictions:
•
To perform a CG pair-split on BC Z pairs, the pairs must have been created using RWC. You
cannot use CG pair-split if the pairs were created using RAID Manager or BCM.
•
To perform a CG pair-split more than once, the status of all pairs in the CG must have changed
to the status specified by the BCM YKEWAIT command.
For more information about this command, see the Hitachi Business Continuity Manager User
Guide.

Workflow for maintaining consistent Business Copy Z secondary volume backups
If you are sharing BC Z P-VOLs with Cnt Ac-S Z or Cnt Ac-J Z S-VOLs, use the following workflow
to maintain a consistent backup of BC Z S-VOLs:
1.
Assign Cnt Ac-J Z pairs to the same journal group.
For more information about assigning BC Z pairs to journals, see the HP XP7 Continuous
Access Journal for Mainframe Systems User Guide.
2.
Register the journal group in an BC Z CG that does not already contain a journal.

Workflow for registering new split times for BC Z consistency groups
If you have registered a split time for the BC Z CG, you must delete the split time before you can
add, resume, or suspend pairs from BCM. To prevent the Cnt Ac-S Z command to resume split
pairs from being rejected, pair the BC Z volumes (“DUPLEX” status) before resuming the pairs that
you have split (“Split/SUSPOP” status).
Use the following workflow to register a new split time for the BC Z CG:
1.
Delete the current registered split time.
2.
Register the new split time.
For more information about the registering split times, see the Business Continuity Manager User
Guide.
