2. Configuring the Layer 2 Protocol

Press NTER > on the T ANDEM [+] option to view the T ANDEM options if
the port mode is set to T ANDEM (E&M).

Set the C ONVERSION M ODE of the port to either L OOP S TART or G ROUND
S TART .
13 Set the S UPERVISION of the port to either I MMEDIATE or W INK .
Be sure to set the T ANDEM options for each port set to T ANDEM
E&M.
Layer 2 Protocol Configuration – T1 Interface
Step Action
1 From the main menu, select L2 P ROTOCOL and press NTER >.

Use the arrow keys to select the P ROTOCOL field for the T1 interface. Press
NTER >. Select ATM from the list of available protocols.

Use the arrow keys to select the C ONFIG menu for the T1 interface and press
NTER >.
4 Highlight the ATM C ONFIG menu for the T1 interface and press NTER >.
5 Enter the I DLE C ELLS format for your network.
6 Set D ATA S CRAMBLING appropriately for your network.

Back all the way out to one level to the PVC C ONFIG menu, and press NTER >.
Enter the VPI and VCI values for communicating with that Gateway. (From this
menu, the appropriate Voice information for working with the Voice Gateway is
entered by selecting V
OICE under the C ONNECTION field.)
