Chapter 12

Content Filtering Screens

This chapter provides a brief overview of content filtering using the web embedded

configurator

.

12.1 Introduction to Content Filtering

Internet content filtering allows you to create and enforce Internet access policies tailored to their needs.
Content filtering is the ability to block certain web features or specific URL keywords and should not be
confused with packet filtering via SMT menu 21.1.

With content filtering, you can do the following:

12.1.1 Restrict Web Features

The ZyWALL can block web features such as ActiveX controls, Java applets, cookies and disable web
proxies.

12.1.2 Create a Filter List

You can select categories, such as pornography or racial intolerance, to block from a pre-defined list.

12.1.3 Customize Web Site Access

You can specify URLs to which the ZyWALL blocks access. You can alternatively block access to all
URLs except ones that you specify. You can also have the ZyWALL block access to URLs that contain
key words that you specify.

12.1.4 Days and Times

The ZyWALL also allows you to define time periods and days during which the ZyWALL performs
content filtering.

12.2 General Content Filter Configuration

Click CONTENT FILTER and the screen will display as shown. Use this screen to enable content filtering,
configure a schedule, and create a denial message. You can also choose specific computers to be included in
or excluded from the content filtering configuration.
