Before you start the install
Prerequisites
Have available your completed customer-specific information (CSI).
Refer to the MCS 5100 Network Deployment and Engineering Guide,
NN10313-191, that accompanies the MCS product for
customer-specific information (CSI) and system requirements.
Read and understand the MCS 5100 Release Notes before installing
the system.
Nortel strongly recommends the use of high-speed data network
connectivity for optimum remote service capability. Without broadband
connectivity, remote service options are limited. We recommend our
Contivity Remote Access Solutions for this function.
Nortel also recommends following standard data center conventions for
having a Universal Power Supply (UPS) as the power backup for the
servers. For more information, refer to the MCS 5100 Network
Deployment and Engineering Guide, NN10313-191, which shows how
to connect servers to two different UPS systems for maximum uptime.
For power over Ethernet in the closet switches, Nortel recommends use
of our Ethernet Switch 460 Power Over LAN layer 2 Ethernet switches.
ATTENTION
