Matte Effects
Using the Model 1200 Matte controls, you can create a number of
interesting mattes to serve as effects backgrounds or fills. To
create a simple background matte, follow the procedure below:
1. Select the Transition [Bkgd] button, and select a matte or
background [crosspoint] on the PST bus. The Matte panel
controls will automatically delegate to the selected matte.
2. Watch the Preview monitor, and adjust Matte (Lum) to set the
brightness of the matte. You may want to set a midrange
brightness to start and fine tune the brightness later.
3. Adjust (Hue) to set the matte color that you want.
4. Adjust Matte (Sat) to set the saturation level of the matte.
5. Adjust the Matte (Opacity) control to make the matte opaque
or transparent.
6. Fine tune all of the above controls as desired. Then use a cut,
mix, or wipe transition to place the matte on air.
