Installation, Configuration and Operations Guide

6.1 Profile Configuration

To access the Profile Editor, select Profiles in the Navigation Panel.

Create or edit a Profile so the sources and destinations are in the order the automation system
requires. Refer to the example discussed in Section 5, “Understanding Profiles,” in this appendix.

Note:

The only sources and destinations that show up in the Profile Editor are those that
have been previously defined in the Ports page. To view this page, select Ports in
the Navigation Panel. Refer to “Configuring the Router’s Ports” on page 54 for
information on defining ports.

6.2 External Control Configuration

In order to control the 9430 Router from an automation system or other external controller, specific
configuration choices need to be made in the External Control Editor.

To access the External Control Editor, select External Control in the Navigation Panel.

6.2.1 Connection Mode

Choose the means of connecting the automation system to the router. The choices are TCP/IP, Telnet,
or RS-232.

TCP/IP

To use TCP/IP with your automation system, check the Enable box in the TCP/IP Control section of the
External Control page.

When using TCP/IP, the automation system will need to connect to Port 5200 at the 9430 Router’s IP
address.

Telnet

To use Telnet with your automation system, check the Enable box in the Telnet Control section of the
External Control page.

Telnet is by its nature a text-based communication method. As a result, this connection choice is only
appropriate for ASCII-based protocols.

When using Telnet, the automation system will need to connect to Port 5100 at the 9430 Router’s IP
address.

For security reasons the default Telnet port number has been disabled in the 9430 Router. Only Port
5100 is activated for Telnet use in the router and is strictly limited to use by automation systems using
the protocols described in this document.
