READ CARD DATA

OVERVIEW

The MCE 300 is capable of reading card data from ABA Track 2 of Mag Stripe Cards. There are
two methods available for reading data from cards. They are:

R - READ CARD DATA - CONFIGURATION MODE - The command utilizes the loaded

configuration of the unit. Prior to reading data you will need to configure the unit to your
specifications (see Section 5). The motorized reader of the unit will automatically
transport the card over the heads of the reader and send the card out of the front or rear
of the reader according to the configuration of the unit. Every time a card is read the
"TOTAL PASSES THROUGH READER" count increments by one.

N - READ CARD DATA - RAW MODE - This command is used for reading card data when it is

desired to ignore the present configuration of the unit. The printouts of this data will not
be configured as in the R command and PIN's will not be generated. The motorized
reader of the unit will automatically transport the card over the heads of the reader and
send the card out of the front or rear of the reader according to the configuration of the
unit. Every time a card is read the "TOTAL PASSES THROUGH READER" count
increments by one.

NOTE: While reading cards, should a card become stuck in the reader, turn off the unit

immediately! Failure to turn off the unit may result in damage to the reader mechanism.
The unit may be turned back on after a few seconds which should cause the card to be
immediately ejected out the front of the reader. If the card does not eject from the reader,
turn off the unit again and have the unit serviced to physically remove the card.
