CARD DATA FILE
OVERVIEW
The card data file is used for storage of the actual card data that will be used for encoding cards,
printing card data, or generating PIN (Personal Identification Number) lists. The card data file
resides in battery-backed memory which means that it is not lost when the power to the file is
turned off. The number of cards that can be stored in the memory at one time is contingent upon
the number of data characters that are in the card. To calculate the number of cards your data
file can hold using your card configuration, use the following formula:
1.
Insert the number of data characters loaded in the configuration.
2.
Add 1 to create the total character sum.
3.
Divide 6016 by the total characters to determine the total cards that can be loaded into the
file.

Attempting to load more cards into the file than it is capable of holding will cause the error
message CARD FILE IS FULL to appear.
It is important to make sure the Configuration of the unit is properly loaded prior to entering card
data. The configuration of the unit determines the parameters by which the card data is loaded.
