ENCODE CARD DATA
OVERVIEW
The MCE 300 is capable of encoding data on ABA Track 2 of Mag Stripe Cards. There are two
methods available for encoding data onto cards. They are:
S - ENCODE CARD DATA - CONFIGURATION MODE
This command utilizes the loaded configuration of the unit. Beofre encoding data, you must
configure the unit to your specifications (See Section 5) and load the card data file (See
Section 6). The motorized reader of the unit will automatically transport the card over the
heads for encoding, reposition the card for a read verification, transport the card over the
heads for a read verification, and send the card either out the front or rear of the reader
according to the configuration of the unit. Every time a card is encoded the TOTAL PASSES
THROUGH READER count increments by two (one for encoding, one for verification) and the
TOTAL CARDS ENCODED count will increment by one.
M - ENCODE CARD DATA - RAW MODE
This command is used for encoding card data when you wish to ignore the present
configuration or the data loaded in the card data file. The unit will allow the entry of card data
and permit the immediate encoding of that data. None of the automatic features loaded in
the configuration are used. As in the S command, the motorized reader of the unit will
automatically transport the card over the heads for encoding, reposition the card for a read
verification, transport the card over the heads for a read verification, and send the card either
out the front or rear of the reader according to the configuration of the unit. Every time a card
is encoded the TOTAL PASSES THROUGH READER count increments by two (one for
encoding, one for verification) and the TOTAL CARDS ENCODED count will increment by
one.
NOTE:
While encoding cards, if a card becomes stuck in the reader, turn off the unit
immediately! Failure to turn off the unit may result in damage to the reader
mechanism. After a few seconds, turn the unit back on; the card should be
immediately ejected out the front of the reader. If the card does not eject from the
reader, turn off the unit again and have the unit serviced to physically remove the
card.
