INSTALLATION
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
The MCE 300 should be located in a clean office-type environment to insure maximum life of the
unit. A dirty environment may cause premature failure of the reader mechanism. Operating
requirements are:

C., 20% to 90% Relative Humidity (non-condensing)
The MCE 300 and any of the devices connected to it must not be installed in or over a hazardous
location.
POWER REQUIREMENTS
The MCE 300 will plug into any standard 115 VAC wall outlet. The power line should be free from
any surges or other electrical interference. Power requirements are:
MCE 300
115 VAC + 10%, 47-63 HZ, 30 Watts Maximum
MCE 300HE
115 VAC + 10%, 47-63 HZ, 55 Watts Maximum
All wiring must conform with the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), the Automotive and Marine
Service Station Code (NFPA 30A), and State and Local Codes.
RS232 WIRING
Should it become necessary to construct special cables for interfacing a data terminal or printer to
the MCE 300, the following information details the pins and signals available on the two ports of
the unit (see the following page for standard communication connections).
