How to -
run a general test of the broadband (Internet) connection:
Open the
Diagnostics > Troubleshoot
page.
Click the
Run Full Diagnostics
button to perform a multi-stage test of all the types of broadband connection the 2247-N8 can support. The
2247-N8 will automatically test a number of components to determine any problems.
After the tests are complete, you can see detailed results by clicking the
Details
buttons for each item. The details presented depend on the config-
uration of your gateway and your network type.
How to -
attempt to contact a remote server (PING):
Open the
Diagnostics > Troubleshoot
page.
1. Click the
Preferred Protocol
selection button (IPv4 or IPv6) if it is available. If your 2247-N8 is configured to use IPv6 addressing, you may choose
the the IP version that you want the test with the selection buttons that appear. These buttons will not appear if IPv6 addressing is not enabled on
the 2247-N8.
2. Type an IP address or a fully-qualified domain name (e.g.; www.motorola.com) in the
Address
field.
3. Click the
Ping
button. The 2247-N8 generates and sends a series of Packet Internet Groper (PING) messages and records their return (or lack
thereof). A report of the success of each PING message, and the time that it took for the message to return (or to time out) is shown in the Progress
Window.
How to -
trace and report the route from the 2247-N8 to a remote server (Traceroute):
Open the
Diagnostics > Troubleshoot
page.
1. Click the
Preferred Protocol
selection button (IPv4 or IPv6) if it is available. If your 2247-N8 is configured to use IPv6 addressing, you may choose
the the IP version that you want the test with the selection buttons that appear. These buttons will not appear if IPv6 addressing is not enabled on
the 2247-N8.

Address
field.
3. Click the
Traceroute
button. The 2247-N8 sends a message through the Internet to the named system. A report of the number of router “hops” it
took to reach the remote host, and the addresses of each of those hops, is shown in the Progress Window.
