4 For timer recording, seiect the recording
destination.
To record on an MD, press MD.
To record on a tape, press TAPE.
Example: For recording the radio (FM) to an MD, "FM ►
MD" is dispiayed.
When the recording destination is seiected, press ENTER or

5 Within 4 seconds, set the duration for the timer-
activated period.
Turn MULTI JOG or press ◄◄ and ►► to set the duration.
The duration can be set between 5 and 240 minutes in 5-
minute units.

Timer-activated period
• Timer piayback and timer recording wiii not begin uniess the
power is turned off.
• if you use the unit whiie the timer is set, check again the
preparation of the source for timer piayback or recording and
the setting of volume before turning off the power.
To check the timer setting
Press TIMER on the main unit, or press TIMER on the remote
control while pressing SHIFT.
The selected source, the timer-on time, and the duration for the
timer-activated period will be displayed for 4 seconds.
To change the timer setting
Set the timer again from fhe beginning.
To cancel the timer standby mode
Press TIMER of the main unit, or press TIMER on the remote
control repeatedly while pressing SHIFT so that "© OFF"
appears.
When the duration is set, press ENTER or II. (if no button is
pressed, the chosen duration is automaticaolly set after 4
seconds.)
6 Adjust the volume.
The source sound will be audible at the volume set here when
the power goes on at the set time.
However, when power economizing mode (page 34) has been
turned on, the volume for timer recording will be 0 (minimum
level).
7 Prepare the source.
For timer playback of a tape, insert a tape to a deck selected
in step 1.
For timer playback of a CD or MD, insert a CD or MD.
For timer playback/recording of the tuner, press TUNER
BAND to select FM or AM and tune in the desired station.
For timer playback/recording of the equipment connected
to the VIDEO/AUX jacks or DIGITAL IN jack, set the timer
of the equipment so that playback begins at the same time.
8 For timer recording, prepare a recordable MD or
tape.
For MD recording, insert a recordable MD.
For tape recording, insert a recordable tape into the deck 2,
and select reverse mode (page 10).
9 Press POWER to turn off the unit.
Timer functions.
©, or © and "REG" are displayed (when the power
economizing mode is set to OFF).
• If the volume level is set to 21 or higher, however, it will
automatically be set to 20 when the power is turned on.
• You can change the source that was selected in step 1 by
pressing one of the función buttons before pressing ENTER
or II in step 3.
You can turn off the unit automatically at any desired time within
4 hours.
1 Press SLEEP on the remote control while
pressing SHIFT.

2 Within 4 seconds, press ◄◄ or ►► , or turn
MULTI JOG to select the timer-activated period.

Press SLEEP on the remote control once while pressing SHIFT.
The duration of the timer-activated period appears for 4 seconds.
To cancel the sleep timer
Press SLEEP on the remote control twice while pressing SHIFT.
"SLEEP OFF" will be displayed for 4 seconds.
