Edge detection mode
In the edge detection mode, the sensor amplifier detects changes of received light
intensity over a fixed period.
This mode is used to turn on the output only when a workpiece is moving into or out of
the detection range of the fiber unit.
• Turning the output ON when the received light intensity attenuates.
Select "
~L_d
" (Falling edge detect mode)
• To turn the output ON when the received light intensity increases:
Select "
_|~d
" (Rising edge detect mode)

Combining the edge detection mode and any of the functions below
makes it more difficult to detect gradual changes in light intensity.
• If the interference prevention is "
dobL
" (double):

Press the [SET] button with no workpiece present.
The amplifier is now configured to ignore
changes in received light intensity for the dura-
tion that the [SET] button is pressed.
Calibration is complete after the setting value
flashes momentarily, and then stops (lights up).
• When detecting workpieces run-
ning on a conveyor, the [SET] button can be pressed for a longer period
to ignore the fluctuations of received light intensity due to conveyor vibra-
tion.
• If the setting value is so low that objects other than the workpiece of interest
are also detected, fine adjustments can be made with the
button.
Refer to page 4-2 "Detection Settings (Func)" for setting methods.
When the falling edge detection mode is selected with a thrubeam model:
(1), (3):The output is OFF because the
received light intensity is not
changing.
(2)
:The output is ON because the
received light intensity is decreasing.
(4)
:The output remains OFF because
the received light intensity is
changing but is increasing.
