Chapter 4 Install the system

8.
a. In the blue Patient Identification window, click Close.
b. In the Virtual Monitor, click Setup, and then Alarms to
display the Alarms Setup window:
c.
Click and hold down the slider for the HR/PR lower alarm
limit, and move it to the right to 90 or greater.
d. Confirm that within a few seconds, the following occurs:
•
The “patient’s” windows show red HR patient alarm borders.
•
The Acuity LT Central Station emits an audible alarm.

a. Confirm that you can hear the alarm from the Acuity LT
Central Station display speakers.
b. Confirm that the speaker volume buttons on the display allow
you to increase and decrease the volume. Set the volume to
an appropriate level.
Note: this adjusts only the volume of the display speakers; it
does not affect the CPU speaker volume, which is controlled
by the Acuity LT System software.

10.
a. In the red-bordered Alarms Setup window, move the HR/PR
lower alarm limit slider back down to below 80.
b. Confirm that the red borders are removed and the audible
alarm stops.

11.
a. Place the patient monitor within 10 feet of AP1.
b. At the switch, disconnect the data cables to all APs except
the following:
•
Leave the AP1 data cable connected to switch port 1.
•
Leave the CPU data cable connected to switch port 8.
c.
Confirm that within three minutes, the Acuity LT Central
Station display shows a CHECK NETWORK message and the
patient windows show simulated patient data.

12.
a. At the switch, reconnect the data cables to all APs.
b. Confirm that within 2 minutes, the CHECK NETWORK
message is no longer displayed.

13.
a. Repeat Steps 11 and 12 for every AP.
Be sure to place the monitor within 10 feet of the AP that is
connected.
