Troubleshooting
If you have any problems with your system, please check the following items prior to
calling for support. For detailed troubleshooting procedures, see the Service Manual.
User Port Troubleshooting
C/Ports
Red link status indicator on PC Blade and C/Port
•
Check cables for correct pin-out, which is the same as for standard Ethernet over
CAT5 cable. Check that all wire pairs are terminated properly.

Pin 1 and 2 are pairs
–
Pin 3 and 6 are pairs
–
Pin 4 and 5 are pairs
–
Pin 7 and 8 are pairs
•
Check the back edge of the PC Blade for any debris that may be causing
incomplete contact between the Blade and the connectors in the Cage.
•
Check for debris on all RJ-45 jacks.
•
Certify the cable with a cable analyzer.
•
For a dual processor PC Blade, verify the C/Port cable is plugged into the even
numbered port (e.g., for a PC Blade installed in Cage slots 3 and 4, the C/Port
cable should be plugged into port 4).
No link status indicator light
•
Troubleshooting procedure is the same as above.
No ethernet link light
•
For model R1200 and R2100 PC Blades, make sure the Ethernet cable is plugged
into a 10/100/1000 Mb/s port on your network switch.
•
Make sure the Ethernet port or the network switch is configured to match the
Ethernet speed capabilities of the PC Blade.
No power to PC Blade
•
Check the power button on the front of the PC Blade.
•
Verify that the power circuit to the Cage is operational.
•
Check all power strips, UPS, and extension cords to make sure they are in
working order.
