This section provides the operational details on the command and control of EA, with screenshots on the
various options.
4-1 Application Activation
EA uses two primary modules: The EA Collector and EA User Interface. The Collector program
(EACOLL) is a process pair that runs 24*7 and collects event information daily. The UI program
(EAVIEW) is launched when a user accesses EA through the browser.
4-1-1 Starting
EA is a plug-in to WVP and thus, gets started and stopped with WVP. The EA Collector process
(EACOLL) is started up in the EA subvolume by obeying the STRTWVP file present in the WVP
installation subvolume (OBEY STRTWVP). This file starts up the
WVP processes including Process Manager (PROCMAN) and Listener (LISTAPP). These are
responsible for launching and managing the UI process EAVIEW when needed.
EA Collector Process Pair (EACOLL).
4-1-2 Stopping
The EA processes can be stopped by obeying the STOPWVP file present in the installation
subvolume (OBEY STOPWVP).
