3-1-2 Functions and Settings
EA Admin has six screens: Configuration, Collectors, Applications, Retentions, Exclusions, Alerts and
Load. Generally most parameters are processed when the EA Collector runs, so settings represent the
settings going forward and does not affect data already processed, except for retentions. Each of these
seven options appears as a tab on the EA Admin screen and is explained below. These seven represent
the distinct functions of EA administration.

There are four parameters that are set on this screen:
a. EA Collector run time: This is the hour and minute at which the daily scan of EMS logs is run by
the EACOLL program. It is advisable to select an hour during which there is minimal activity on
the NonStop server.
b. Volumes to store Action Event Logs: This is the volume where the log files storing action event
information are stored. One file is created daily, named EAACT, and is stored in a subvolume
named ‘EAyymmdd’, where ‘yymmdd’ represents the day on which the action events were
generated.
c. Web ViewPoint ACK Priority Flag: When running through the events for action events, the
action-required events are matched, if possible, to the action-taken events. This flag indicates
whether an acknowledgement done through Web ViewPoint takes a priority over the action-
taken event. Default value for this flag is ‘Yes’. NOTE: The Web ViewPoint through which
acknowledgement is done should be the same Web ViewPoint where EA is installed.
