8 Data Collection Configuration
The Data Collection Configuration screen is located in the Configuration tab in Performance Advisor XP
(PA XP), as shown in
Data Collection Configuration screen
. Use this screen to configure a command
device to collect configuration and performance data for a given array. You can collect data on the
performance of RAID groups, disk controller units (DKC), and ports.
The list box displays a list of host IDs, indicates if configuration data is collected for the array, the
time stamp of when it was collected, indicates if performance data is collected for the array, the DKC
(controller) serial number of the array, and the command device on the array, and the name of the
schedule for collecting data.

If an array is connected to a host agent that is running on HPUX-11.31 operating system, the device
special file (Device in the above screen) is displayed in a new format. A legacy DSF is displayed
in parenthesis next to the new format.
The Data Collection Configuration screen will not display bad command devices.
NOTE:
If there are multiple paths to a command device from different ports in the same host, only the lexically
first command device file, is displayed in the Data Collection Configuration screen.
Using the Data Collection Configuration screen
Use the Data Collection Configuration screen to collect configuration and performance data for a
particular XP disk array. You can create and delete schedules, and start and stop the data collection.
