The expansion port you select determines the line and extension numbers of the devices
connected to the expansion unit. For the default line and extension numbers, see the table
Default line and extension numbers
on page 102. If you have a second expansion unit, repeat
steps 1 to 3 for the second unit.
Connecting the power supply
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is an optional device that you connect to your BCM50
system. The UPS provides battery backup for the BCM50 system to maintain continuous operation
during a power interruption or failure. For more information about the UPS, see

Note: For the UPS to function correctly, you must first connect it before you
power up the BCM50 system. If you connect a UPS to a running system, the UPS
does not function.
