APPLICATION OF LOCTITE FORM-IN-PLACE GASKET -510
WHERE TO USE
Flange caps of differential carrier and gear boxes.
Gear boxes and industrial reducers housings.
Input housing of drop gear and interaxles differential.
Covers of planetary hub and industrial reducers.
Other use according to SOMA Engineering recommendation.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PRODUCT
Color: orange red
Adhesive power important: Do not use on the centering (only on the bearing areas)
Temperature: resistance from—55 C to + 200 C.
Use with precautions: avoid all contact with the skin.
do not smoke.
O.E.M. INSTALLATION
Clean and degrease carefully with a solvent or by washing the parts. Note that grease
prevents polymerisation of the sealant, thus renders the gasket useless.
Let evaporate.
Apply on one of the bearing areas, a single continuous bead of Locite 510 by going around all
bolt holes. Thickness of the sealant bead. 1mm max. (0.040 in.).
Assemble the parts and torque bolts according to type of axle.
Let dry: possible handling after 30 minutes,
total polymerisation after 18 to 24 hours.
To reduce the polymerisation time, spray Locquic N on one of the bearing area, let
evaporate, then apply Loctite 510.
All bolts must be tightened within five minutes following assembly.
MAINTENANCE
Disassemble: generally a sideways tap or rotation will break the seal.
Clean excess material off the surface and degrease.
Reapply Loctite 510 as described for O.E.M. installation.
