PRECAUTIONS
Check:
The cleanliness of the parts (bore, seal land, and oil seal).
The surface conditions of the seal land: it must not be scored or damaged.
The oil seal condition: the lips must not be cut or torn. The spring must be correctly
positioned and the F.E. coating on the dust lip free of burrs.
LUBRICATION
Grease the internal face of the oil seal and the seal lips.
Pack the AF-RA between the two lips with grease.
The grease used must conform to specification STC 1-109.
ASSEMBLY
The oil seal must be placed in the carrier concentric and perpendicular to axis. Use an adap-
ted mandrel to push on the back of the seal and to position it according to the illustration
shown above.
Care should be taken not to damage the seal lips when fitting the input flange.
Always install new seals after disassembly.
