PLANETARY WITH WET DISC BRAKE
Remove the ring gear carrier (1).
Keep the preload shim (2) for the reuse
if there in no change of hub, bear-
ings or ring gear carrier
ASSEMBLY OF THE WHEELEND
Install a lifting devise (1).
Using a mallet, strike the hub (2) on
the side of the wheel stud heads, and
remove the hub (2).
WARNING: Retain the bearing inner
race (3) during this operation.
Remove the hub seal (1), using a
screwdriver.
Remove the bearing inner race (2).
Check the condition of the outer
race, no scoring or pitting is
allowed.
If replacing remove the outer race
using a special tool or a brass drift
Check that there are no scores or
marks on the seal runner.
REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE:
Apply moderate heat to the seal
runner and pry off. Brake seals
must be remove before applying
heat to the seal runner.
Clean and degrease the seal runner (1)
and the spindle (2).
Heat the seal runner (1) to 176°F (80°C).
NOTE: Loctite is used to mount the seal
runner to the spindle.
Apply a continous bead of Loctite
to the circumference of the spindle
(2) (arrow).

Install the seal runner onto the
spindle (2).
Install bearing (3) in the spindle
(2) using tool (4) on steer axles.
