SEALING THE PLANETARY HUB REDUCERS
PRECAUTIONS
Check:
The cleanliness of the parts (bore, seal race, and oil seal).
The surface of the seal race must not be scored or damaged.
The oil seal lips must not be cut or torn. The spring must be correctly positioned and the
P.T.F.E. coating on the dust lip for certain oil seals, free of burrs.
LUBRICATION
Grease the internal face of the oil seal and the seal lips.
Pack the area between the two lips with grease.
The grease used must conform to specification STC 1-109.
ASSEMBLY
The oil seal must be placed in the hub concentric and perpendicular to the axis.
Use a pusher to position and recess the seal by 6mm (0.236 in.).
Care should be taken not to damage the seal lips when fitting the planetary hub.
Always fit new seals after disassembly.
