APPLICATION OF LOCTITE THREAD LOCK
l
WHERE TO USE
Screws and bolts with a diameter less than 6mm (0.236 in.) or with an engaging length greater
than the normal diameter x 1.5: use Locite Thread Lock 222.
Other screws and bolts: use Locite Thread Lock 242.
O.E.M. INSTALLATION
Clean and degrease carefully with a solvent. Note that grease prevents polymerisation of
the sealant, thus renders the gasket useless.
Let surface dry.
Apply on the thread (if possible at the end of the screw) only one drop of the selected Loctite
product.
Assemble the parts and tighten the screws with the proper torque.
Let dry: possible handling after 30 minutes (60 minutes max.),
total polymerisation after 3 hours.
It is not necessary to use a quickener to reduce the polymerisation time for the first assembly.
MAINTENANCE
Disassemble: in case of lock, heat the threaded area of screw/bolt.
Clean excess material off the surface and degrease.
Reapply Loctite 222 or 242 as described for O.E.M. installation.
To reduce the polymerisation time, spray Locquic T on the thread, let evaporate, then apply
Loctite Thread Lock.
All screws must be torqued as soon after assembly as possible.
