PLANETARY WITH WET DISC BRAKE
Install the shaft (1) and engage the
splines. Install the inner race of bearing (1).
Install the hub seal (2) with lip and
spring positioned toward the inside of
the hub, using a special tool (3).
See Specification STB 1-204. Position the Hub (1) on the spindle
with a lifting device.
Be careful of the lip seal when
installing the hub on the spindle.
Engage and install the bearing inner
race (2) in the hub.
(Use a brass drift to ease with the
installation of the bearing).
Apply grease to the pre-load shim.
Install the pre-load shim on the ring
gear carrier. Position the ring gear carrier (1)
in the hub aligning marks with the
centering pin (2) upward.
Be careful this positioning is very
important. Clean and remove grease from the
bolts (1) and the threaded holes.
Apply Loctite to the bolts. See
Specifications STB 1-204.
Torque bolts to proper torque.
