ADJUSTMENT OF SPINDLE NUT FOR ROUGH TERRAIN VEHICLES
Planetary Hub Reducers - Ratios (2.68 - 3.55) 4.6 - 5.6
l Tighten the spindle nut (1) while rotating the hub to correctly position all components
(bearings and tapper ring) tightening torque: 350 to 400 N.m (258 - 295 foot pounds).
l Adjust the nut by slackening until rotation of the hub is obtained by applying the following
tangential.
Force on the wheel stud:
55N (12.3 foot pounds) for a stud circle of 425mm (16.73 inch) diameter
70N (15.8 foot pounds) for a stud circle of 335mm (13.18 inch) diameter
85N (19.1 foot pounds) for a stud circle of 275mm (10.82 inch) diameter
95N (21.4 foot pounds) for a stud circle of 245mm (9.64 inch) diameter
l Secure the nut by bending over one of the ears of the locking washer (2).
