Install the bearing (1) in the hub
using tool (3).
Follow the same procedure for the
other bearing in the hub. Install the hub (2) fitted with bear-
ings on fixture (1).
Put the bearings (3) under a load of
220 lbs. (0.100) T metric).
Turn the hub (2) seat the bearings.
Measure distance “A”. Install the ring gear carrier (1).
Install six bolts (2), tighten
them in two steps, follow
Specification STB 1-204.
Place the ring gear carrier with
its centering pin for the brake
disc on top.
Place an alignment between
the ring gear carrier spindle.
Measure “B” at several places and
calculate the average.
Calculating shim for pre-load of
the hub bearings.
o “A” = the distance measured
previously.
o “B” = distance measured.
B - A = C
Pre-load = See Specifications STB
1-204
Pre-load shim thickness = X.
C + pre-load = X
Remove bolts and ring gear carrier.
Install the new parking brake piston
seal.
(1) in the spindle.
Install the belleville springs (3)
fitted with the guide sleeve (4) on
the parking brake piston (5). (See
figure).
Lubricate and install the assembly in
the spindle (2), using sleeve (4) to
center the belleville springs (3).
Install a new seal (6) (outer seal of
the reaction piston).
Install a new seal (1) in the reaction
piston (2).
Lubricate and install the assembly
into the spindle.
