ISDN Port Setup
This section describes how to configure the ISDN port on the Eicon 1551. This port
was designed to act as a backup port in case the main VHSI connection becomes
unavailable.
Connecting the ISDN Cable
The gray cable included with your Eicon 1551 package is used to connect the ISDN
port to your ISDN wall jack (or NT-1, depending on how your ISDN line is set up).
However, any standard, straight-through RJ45-RJ45 cable can be used.
Once the ISDN cable is connected properly, the D and Link status lights (on the front of
the Eicon 1551) should start flashing. This indicates that the Eicon 1551 is attempting
to synchronize with the ISDN network.
• These two lights should turn solid when synchronization is established. However,
these lights may go off when the line is not in use, as many ISDN networks disconnect
to conserve power.
Configuring the ISDN Line
Your ISDN provider should provide you with such information as switch type, and ISDN
phone numbers. Additionally, you may want to determine what your billing intervals are
in order to reduce your ISDN costs.
To configure your ISDN line:
1.
Launch your web browser.
2.
Click ‘File’, ‘Open’, then enter the following IP address: 192.168.1.1
3.
Click ‘OK’. You should see the ‘Log in’ page.
Note: If you do not see the ‘Log in’ page, see
4.
Click the ‘Log in’ button. The main menu should appear.
Note: By default there is no password.
