Smoothing
When activated, this feature enhances the appearance of incoming faxes by
“smoothing” lines. It takes no longer to receive faxes in this setting, which comes
set to ON.
You cannot use “smoothing” for outgoing faxes, or for printing lists and reports.

Ink Empty Mark
When you receive fax messages, the MFC prints a small black square on the right
bottom side of every page. The MFC verifies that fax messages have been printed
properly by detecting this marking. If the mark is missing, or cannot be detected
because the MFC is in sunlight, up to five received faxes will be saved in memory.
This ensures that you will not lose a fax message if the MFC is unable to print it.
Check or replace the ink cartridge or move the MFC out of the sunlight. The MFC
will then automatically print the stored messages.
NOTE:
Never pull a printed page from the MFC. Wait until the Ink Empty Mark
has printed.
Setting Recording Paper Size________________
You can use three sizes of paper for printing your faxes — letter, legal, and A4.
When you change the kind of paper you have loaded in the MFC, you will need to
change the setting for recording paper size, so the MFC will know how to fit the
incoming fax on the page. You can also select the level of page reduction to fit on
the paper in your MFC.
