fax server and retrieves the faxes. Note that old unclaimed faxes will not be
aged out, they will remain on the server until claimed.

Fax Machine Integration Server
When a user does not have a Routing Address, the fax will be delivered to that
user, but remain in the fax server’s Inbox until FMIS connects to the fax server
and retrieves the faxes. Since FMIS polls the fax server frequently, faxes
should be moved to FMIS in less than a minute.

Delivering to Both Email and Microsoft Fax
A single account can only deliver either to email or to Microsoft Fax. In order to
deliver both ways, it is necessary to create two accounts, and route to those
accounts with a group. Create a group and assign the DID to it. Create two
users and place them in that group, giving one of those accounts a routing ad-
dress and leaving the other with no routing address. Configure the Microsoft
Fax client to use the account with no routing address.

Fax Export
Licensing: This feature requires the
FaxExport
feature. To export faxes as
PDFs rather than TIFFs requires the
PDFConverter
feature.
The Fax Export module is typically used for two purposes: to save all faxes for
archiving, or to integrate NET SatisFAXtion with some other system. Once the
faxes are exported they are simply files on disk — the fax server no longer man-
ages them and they can be moved, renamed and deleted as needed.
The following documentation covers the new Export system introduced in ver-
sion 8.6. If the fax server is upgraded from an earlier version, the old export
system will continue to be used.
Archiving: Inbound and outbound faxes can be written to a local directory or to
a network share. Separate folders can be created for individual users, and files
can be flexibly named based on fax parameters.
Integration: Faxes are written to a “shared” directory that the other application
monitors. Faxes are saved to this folder along with an XML file containing the
fax metadata. The other application reads in the XML and fax, then deletes both
files.
