6 Importing copy groups
This chapter explains how to generate copy group definitions by using CSV files, import definitions
to monitor PPRC copy pairs, and import SMS storage group definitions.
Generating a copy group definition file by using CSV files
By executing the YKIMPORT command, you can generate a copy group definition file from
comma-separated value (CSV) files in which copy pair information is described. In addition, by
executing the YKEXPORT command, you can generate CSV files in which copy pair information
is described from a copy group definition file.
Generating a copy group definition file (CSV file for copy group definition)
By executing the YKIMPORT command, you can generate one copy group container (one copy
group definition file) from one CSV file. A copy group definition file can be generated for all copy
types.
When generating a copy group definition file from CSV files, select either of the following:

Inherit only the attributes of the base copy group definition file and newly generate a copy
group definition file.
•
Overwrite the base copy group definition file with the contents of the CSV file.
This section describes how to generate a copy group definition file.
Required files (CSV file for copy group definition)
To generate a copy group definition file by executing the YKIMPORT command, the following files
are required.

Create a CSV file in which copy pair information in the
copy group container is described. Allocate and catalog
this CSV file with the DD name INPAIR. Pair information CSV file
Create a CSV file in which EXCTG information in a 4x4
configuration copy group container is described. Allocate
and catalog this CSV file with the DD name INEXCTG. EXCTG information CSV file
Create a CSV file in which consistency group information
is described. Allocate and catalog this CSV file with the
DD name INCTG. CTG information CSV file

Create a disk configuration definition file by scanning the
