1-3 User Access Control
The XP Remote Web Console Java™ applet program provides three basic levels of user access:
•
Administrator access
•
Restricted (write) access
•
Ordinary user (view) access
Administrators have write access to all XP Remote Web Console functions. Certain functions are restricted to
administrators, including the following:
•
Enabling and disabling options (see section 2-7)
•
Editing the user account list (see section 3-3)
•
Setting the environmental parameters (see section 3-4)
•
Downloading XP Remote Web Console trace files using FD Dump Tool (see section 3-6)
The remaining functions are referred to as restricted functions, and non-administrators can be assigned write
permission to one or more of these functions. The ability to assign different access permissions for each individual
function allows maximum flexibility and control over the XP Remote Web Console functions. See section 3-4 for
instructions on assigning write permissions for restricted functions.
XP Remote Web Console has two default users. The default Administrator has administrator access. The User ID
is administrator, and the Password is administrator. The default User has restricted user access. The User
ID is user, and the Password is user. You can use these default users when you initially log on to XP Remote
Web Console; however, we recommend changing the password of the Administrator when you log in for the first
time.
