SCF
described in
Appendix B, COUP and PUP Interfaces
. PUP is described in the
Peripheral Utility Program (PUP) Reference Manual.
SCF
For users who plan to install and run a G-series version of SMF, SCF provides the
interface for both configuring the attributes of SMF processes and establishing the
relationships among SMF processes.
An overview on configuring and managing SMF with SCF is presented in
Configuring and Managing SMF Processes
. SCF commands are described in the SCF
Reference Manual for the Storage Subsystem.
Other SMF Processes and Components
Other processes and components are available for relocating physical files and for
performing various file-level and process-level maintenance tasks.
File System
Various file system procedures provide programmatic support for obtaining attribute
and volume information for storage pools and for retrieving the pool name from a DP2
volume label. File system procedures are also used to obtain file information about
logically named files and virtual disks.
Guardian procedures unique to SMF and those that have been extended to provide
support for SMF are described in
Section 8, Guardian Procedures
. Guardian file
system procedures are described in the Guardian Procedure Calls Reference Manual.
RELOCSRV
The SMF RELOCSRV process allows storage administrators to change the physical
placement of files. The RELOCSRV process is invoked through the File Utility Program
(FUP) or through a Guardian file system procedure.
The RELOCSRV process and the use of FUP to support the relocation of files are
described in
Section 5, File Relocation Facility
. Guardian procedures unique to SMF
and those that have been extended to provide support for SMF are described in
Section 8, Guardian Procedures
. FUP is described in the File Utility Program (FUP)
Reference Manual.
SMFIXUP
The SMF SMFIXUP utility is used to perform various process and catalog maintenance
tasks specific to SMF that cannot otherwise be done by conventional processes that
support SMF.
SMFIXUP commands are described in
.
